The Light Sculpting Table.
Portable "Shoot through" Production Rig.

Essentially, it's two sheets of Plexiglas with a wooden frame that is clamped to a simple truss on light stands and a modified, plastic sawhorse.

The system allows me to angle the table and clamp a huge variety of modifiers.

Plexiglas provides a natural, static friction coefficient for small parts, and some metal tools. Only a very small amount of putty is required for some instances.

I use two sheets to allow a small split in between for creative use and pass through of cables and wires, etc.

When used in it's most basic configuration, (image right), I can literally suspend the object in a wash of white light and with a few simple adjustments? I am able to control the brightness of the background in dependant of the foreground. Thus I have significantly increased shot count, while reducing much of the post processing work in graphics applications.

I reserve post processing in photoshop to remove wires, putty and other supports if needed.

Many designers appreciate having images that are simply ready for placement.

Tethered shoots, with clients present, allows for quick adjustments to achieve the look they want as well.

The system is portable, and the work can just about anywhere. The image on the right was done in a small living room.

Below are some random examples created with this system.
